thinking about a few years ago, when i saw the taxonomic dustbin in our community for the first time, the green olympic made no difference in my mind. i just regarded it as an interesting way to sort garbage. but when a few days later i raised my hands high up and was eager to be a member of 'the communist youth league’s epd group', i told myself firmly, 'it’s a great way to make contribution to the 2008’s beijing.' maybe this is why i have that much passion on this great action. in the following months, we have activities such as picking up all the plastic things which are surrounded our school together with our teacher. we were all very excited about this meaningful thing. we also set up special dustbins for used batteries, so that we can both pollute less and recycle more. when seeing all the plastics and the batteries were carried on the truck which was going to the recycle factory to handle these things, we were all very happy about it. everyone forgot all the hardness. to let the dream of' green beijing' come true, all of us should give a hand. 'i’ve do something great for you beijing,' what a great sentence!
and at the same time, the actions of protecting the environment are going on, too. my father changed all the taps in my family into saving-water ones, and all the water we use are recycled for at least 2 or 3 times. i always can hear this ad on cri, it says, '5 million children died each year, just for the drinking water.' so, help us to make the world safer. although my actions are rather small, but i think with all of you guys help, there will be a strong power.
the color green gives the olympic game a deeper meaning, green is in flowers, grasslands and in trees; green is in the sky, in the earth and in the sunshine. but to my opinion, green’s also in our minds, in our smiles and in the great love.
once in an activity which was to plant trees for the community, every planter got a card to hang out on the tree with writing a few meaningful words. do you know i have written what that is:
'happy growing!'

灿烂未来 绿色希望
清晨绿色的阳光透过温柔的叶子洒向大地，年轮中曾经青涩的时光向未来讲述着美丽的传说，奥运五环中的绿色像温暖的拥抱明亮的光环笼罩在北京蔚蓝的天空下。随着第29届奥运会的临近，我们北京的每一个市民都像是绿色奥运使者一样，越来越热爱我们的北京，越来越关心周围的环境。我们因自己是北京人，可以向每一个外国友人展示北京的风采而感到骄傲。而这样一次又一次的感动中，我看到草地更绿了，蓝天清澈了，一棵棵的小树苗在温柔的微风中茁壮成长。这是我的家，这是美丽的北京，这里寄托这绿色的奥运希望。
回想几年以前，我第一次在社区的路旁看到分类垃圾箱的时候，绿色奥运在我的大脑中还没有任何概念，只是觉得这样把垃圾分类是很新鲜的事。但是当我在不久后的班会上把手高高的举起来希望自己也可以加入'共青团epd社团'的时候，心里已经坚信，'用自己的力量为2008年的北京做出贡献，这真是太伟大'了。也许这就是我和绿色奥运行动最开始的结缘吧。在随后的几个月中，校团委带领包括我们支部在内的20余名同学一起到学校周边的路旁捡拾白色垃圾，这对于我们来说是一次意义重大的活动。我们还在学校门口设立了回收旧电池的垃圾筒，来尽可能减少环境的污染并同时节约资源。当看到一袋袋白色垃圾和旧电池被搬到送往回收站的卡车上时，我们忘记了之前的一切辛苦，因为汗水换来了快乐，和，付出的喜悦。绿色北京的实现需要我们每一个人去努力，'绿色奥运，有我一个'，多么骄傲的一句话啊。
同时，环境保护的行动在我家也在进行着。爸爸把家里所有的水龙头都换成了节水型的水龙头，而且所有的生活用水都至少被循环了两到三次。我经常会在中国国际广播电台听到这样的一则公益广告：'每年因缺水而死亡的儿童有500万之多'，身为同样生活在地球上的人类，我想我的行动虽然是微不足道的，但是如果大家都投身于节约用水和绿色环保的行动中来，那么我们的力量将是不可估量的。
绿色为奥运会的举办赋予了更深广的含义，绿色是花，是草，是树；绿色是天，是地，是阳光；可是在我心里，绿色更是心，是笑，是爱。
在社区举办的每一次植树活动中，每个植树者都会自己制作一个小牌子并写上自己对未来的希望，在和爸爸妈妈一个上午的努力过后，我在牌子上写到：
'成长快乐！'
成长快乐！每一棵为了让我们环境更美丽的小树！

the olympic opening ceremony was an international event and the whole world was watching! the event was held in a stadium designed to seat a large group of people.
the athletes entered the stadium in a specific order. the athletes from greece entered first in honor of the original olympics held in greece. then, the other athletes followed by nation in the alphabetical order of the host country’s language. the host country’s athletes came last. so for this coming olympics 2008, the athletes from china will enter the stadium last.

我国《英语课程标准》明确指出基础教育小学阶段英语课程的主要任务是激发和培养学生学习英语的兴趣。因此积极创设语言环境，充分调动学生学习英语的积极性，促进了学生的英语学习，提高教学实效性是当前小学英语教学的主线。结合奥运契机，我结合教学实践谈谈自己的看法。
一、通过奥运会调动学生学习英语的热情
北京奥运会虽然结束了，而它给我们留下的巨大财富无穷无尽。一句最简单的welcome to beijing（北京欢迎你）架起了我们与世界沟通的桥梁，建设好这座桥梁就是当代英语教师所要努力的事，我们有义务让这座桥梁更坚实、更稳健。在小学英语课堂中，我们可以充分发挥奥运会的余热来做好教学工作。
英语教学活动与奥运会相融合具有无可比拟的优势。这种特殊地位决定了它可以在奥运理念教育中发挥更大的作用。对于奥运会，对于体育比赛，小学生们的热情并不亚于成年人，他们通过各种渠道接触奥运会，观看各项体育赛事，了解到有关奥运会的各种信息，这些都是英语教学的资源，我们可以将其转化为学习英语的契机。所以，只要我们引导得当，借助奥运会进行有效的教学，就能使学生对英语产生浓厚的兴趣。
二、渗透奥运精神，充分调动学习激情
小学英语教材是针对小学生而设计的，充满了趣味性，因此，在课文教学中适当加入一些奥运元素，能让学生在学习中不仅学会英语知识，而且于潜移默化中领悟奥运精神，可谓一举两得。
例如在教学第三册module 6 unit 1 can you run fast？时，就可以很好地结合奥运会、奥运精神来教学。在学习这篇课文时，我找来了几位体育明星的图片，帮助学生学习。这几位体育明星学生都耳熟能详，也非常喜爱。比如，我制作了一张刘翔在鸟巢跑步的图片，问：“what is he doing?”
生：“he is running.”
师补充：“yes，he can run.”强调can。
看到刘翔图片，学生们都特别激动，纷纷发言说刘翔的故事，还有个学生画龙点睛地用了一句话来总结：“i hope liuxiang can run faster.”学生们都纷纷赞同。
随后我出示一张michael phelps在水立方游泳的图片，问：“what is he doing?”
生：“he is swimming.”
师补充：“yes， he can swim.”强调can。
然后让班里的小体育迷介绍michael phelps（事先布置让全班同学回家查资料），要求尽量使用英语。结果这位学生介绍得特别好：in china，michael’s nickname is “the flying fish”. he won 8 gold medals in the 2008 olympic games. he broke the world’s record again and again. every day he gets up at 5 o’clock and goes swimming. in his free time， he likes playing basketball.many people think michael is the fastest swimmer in the world.完了之后再要求另一位同学用中文翻译出来。因为词汇量不大，且大部分单词已经学习过，所以对学生来说障碍不大。在这样一说一译之中，说的同学口语表达、自我实现感、查找资料等方面的能力都得到了锻炼；而译的同学锻炼了听力、词汇复习、语言组织能力；其他同学从中不仅学习到了英语知识，而且感受到了michael phelps的体育精神。
之后我指着刘翔的图片问学生：“can he swim?”然后顺势教学单词“can”和“can’t”。我刚拿出图片时，学生都特别兴奋，抢着说出他们的名字，这时我先引导，释放学生的热情，让学生举手介绍自己知道的关于这些明星的资料背景，然后进行教学，以免影响教学效果。
另外，在学生学过单词，准备学习课文时，我制作了一个课件，将课文中的跑步时的daming改为刘翔，将跳跃时的daming改为姚明，将amy改为郭晶晶。他们是学生很熟悉的运动明星，学生看到他们的图片都很兴奋，在这些图片帮助下，很快理解了run fast、jump high、winner的含义。我用多媒体播放这些课件，激起了学生极大的兴趣，学生读起课文非常认真，而且加入自己的感情，课文教学事半功倍。
完成课文学习后，我在班级上举行了一次“小小奥运会”，放手让学生自己组织，自己比赛，自己统计，要求大家都尽量用英语交谈，结束之后完成一个统计表。在活动中，学生不仅领会了奥运精神：faster、higher、stronger，而且英语学习的热情高涨。

三、课外延伸，鼓励学生的学习兴趣
首先，在教室设置英语角――“奥运a b c”。a：让学生自己通过各种渠道搜集各界奥运会的口号、奥运五环旗的中英文表示方法、各种奥运会吉祥物，了解奥运会上的比赛项目、奥运背景知识、奥运趣闻、奥运小故事，宣传奥运明星，等等，做成期刊，每期刊出某一方面的知识。b：奥运服务英语。主要针对餐馆、旅游、交通等服务行业，以奥运为背景，通过假设的实用场景（场所）进行交流。c：让学生认识奥运会的“higher，faster，stronger”（更高、更快、更强）的体育精神，并组织讨论深入认识，同时拓展到各种学习、生活层面，鼓励学生富于比赛精神。
其次，营造英语氛围。第一，鼓励学生在校园中常常使用英语。比如：用英语进行师生间和同学间的问候。第二，在校园、教室内布置有关奥运英语的环境。第三，利用校园广播站播放奥运英语日常用语。第四，制作the olympic in my heart手抄报。第五，搜集常用奥运术语，如：奥运会olympic games、奥运火炬olympic torch、奥运会代表团olympic delegation、奥运村olympic village、组委会organization committee、开幕式opening ceremony、闭幕式closing ceremony、颁奖台podium等。
